John Peter Douglas, working as a technician with AIR at Ahwa in Dangs district, had been issued an ST certificate that enabled him to get the job.
However, the ST Commissioner issued an order on September 30 last year, saying the candidate could not claim the ST status and benefits associated with it as he did not fulfill the conditions for being a tribal.
Douglas later moved the high court, as he was about to lose his job, which he had secured through the ST quota.
Justice Jayant Patel, however, stayed the order of the ST Commissioner and fixed February 22 as the next date of hearing in the case.
