She was allegedly kidnapped by one Surender (27), alias Tikku, who kept on the move in UP and Haryana. “He kept the girl in Moradabad and other areas in UP till he was caught from the Delhi-Haryana border,” sources said. Surender was arrested by the south west district police and was sent to judicial custody, after he was produced in court.

The lawyer had alleged in his complaint on December 7 that he suspected a couple were behind the kidnapping of his daughter. On January 11, the Delhi High Court asked the police to speed up investigations and trace the girl within six days. A case was registered at Sarojini Nagar police station.

The lawyer told Newsline: “I am grateful to all police officers, including the Investigating Officers, the SHO, the ACP and DCP Shalini Singh herself. They have really worked hard and put in all their efforts. I am also thankful to the media for its unconditional support.”

Several teams were working round-the-clock and phones were kept under surveillance to ascertain Surender’s movements, said sources. Sources also said that Vinod Lala and wife Bala are behind the kidnappers and efforts are being made to catch them too. Officials said others, who helped Surender in the kidnapping, would also be caught soon.
