Notices have been issued over a petition filed by Professor Sanjay Wadwalkar in which he has sought stay over the appointment of Dr Mohanmeet Kaur as the chairperson of the Mass Communication Department. Wadwalkar has raised the issue that he, being a Professor has not been considered for the post of Chairperson and Dr Mohanmeet who is junior to him has been appointed as the Chairperson.
He has also cited rules of the Panjab University calendar, 2005 stating that as per the rules if a Professor is available in a department he should be given preference for being appointed as the Chairperson of the Department of Mass Communication. Notices have been issued to all the parties for February 29.
