Eye camp by AFMC
A surgical camp that was recently organised b the Armed Forces Medical College saw, Maj Gen Gautam Ravindranath, VSM, Dean & Deputy Commandant of Armed Forces Medical College distribute drugs to the patients who underwent cataract surgery in a surgical eye camp organised by the Dept of Ophthalmology at AFMC. All these patients underwent cataract extraction with implantation of intraocular lens by a team of surgeons led by Col Ajay Banerjee, Prof & HOD, Dept. of Ophthalmology. Patients for this camp were screened from villages of Urali Kanchan, Kasurdi & surrounding areas.

Workshop conducted
The Gynecology Department of Ruby Hall organized a 2-day surgical workshop entitled “SURGIGYN 2009”, on May 2 and May 3. The focus of which was the Pelvic floor and its understanding, and the various treatment options.. The purpose was to expose practitioners to the simple and correct methods that they can learn and can adapt it to their practice for the betterment of patients. About the workshop, Dr Sunita Tandulwadkar, head of the gynecology department at Ruby Hall clinic says, “Women in India, as world over are surviving longer, and newer age related feminine problems are coming to the fore. Some of them are urinary symptoms along with laxity of vagina and related structures that a lady has to deal with. These have social as well as sexual connotations and can severely undermine the patients’ confidence as well as medical health newer techniques, both in terms of diagnosis as well as treatment, which are simple surgical procedure to complex surgery, have evolved which can help in helping women lead normal healthy lives.”
