New Delhi, February 22 A domestic help placement cell owner and a trader were today detained after the body of a 22-year-old help was found in suspicious circumstances in Punjabi Bagh, west Delhi, six days after her death.

According to police, the help, Sunita Tete, worked at garment trader Anil Sabharwal’s house in Saraswati Vihar.

Police said Sabharwal, who had hired Sunita’s services five years ago, did not inform them after her death but kept moving her body—which was stored in ice—in a private ambulance over the last six days.

Sunita’s family had got in touch with Sewa Bharti, an NGO, after they did not hear from her for several weeks. The NGO, in turn, contacted Sabharwal and Jharkhand Personal Placement Service Agency’s owner Bhanu Singh about the girl.

Police said Sunita died on February 16 and that her death “seemed natural”, but that Sabharwal and Bhanu had not informed them.

“They stored her body in ice in an ambulance, which they had hired from a private nursing home. They left the ambulance near the NGO’s office in Punjabi Bagh this morning,” a senior police officer said.

Sunita’s family members, however, alleged she was killed, and protested at Saraswati Vihar Police Station.

The body has been sent for postmortem to Babu Jagjeevan Ram Hospital, police said. A police officer said there was no external injury on the body.
