High Court grants temporary bail to Sajal Jain

Ahmedabad, March 7 A Single judge bench of the Gujarat High Court on Friday granted Sajal Jain, the prime accused in the Bijal Joshi gangrape case, temporary bail on a hefty personal bond of Rs 25 lakh. He has been granted bail from March 8-28 for visiting his ailing wife in Delhi.

Jain, a Delhi based businessman has been accused of raping Bijal Joshi along with his five Ahmedabad based friends on December 31, 2003. Joshi committed suicide a week later on January 7, accusing Jain, his boyfriend, and his friends of raping her, in a suicide note.

Jain, who was arrested by the Gujarat Police from Delhi on January 15, 2004, is lodged in the Sabarmati Central Jail. He had previously appealed for temporary and regular bail, which were rejected by the High Court in May 2006.
