Ludhiana Singer Azzi Aish rolls out ‘Once Again’

His voice has an emotional appeal to it. And you can almost see the emotions flow when you hear Punjabi singer Azzi Aish take to the floor. Aish was in the city to promote his new album ‘Once Again’ released by DH 1. Born and brought up in Garhshankar in Hoshiarpur, Aish has been in the music industry for the past 20 years and has learnt the intricacies of music from Surinder Khan and and Baldev Kakri. “I have been inclined towards Sufi and classical music. I feel music is a way of connecting to God,” tells Aish who though feels not everyone can follow their heart in an industry that’s ruled by competition. “In an urge to sell, music videos these days are focussing more on the beats than the lyrics and the voice of the artist. Foreign-based Punjabi singers have started this concept of beats and club mix and now it has become public demand,” rues Aish who admits to have given in as well. “After all I too have to make a living,” smiles to say. While his album offers peppy numbers, it’s the “sad” songs that he wants to highlight. “In all my albums, sad songs have got good response from the public. So I thought of continuing with the same,” tells Azzi who released his first album 15 years ago and so far has five albums to his credit which include ‘Mohabbat’, ‘Sajna’, ‘Luttiyan Mohabattan’, and ‘Vibration’. With strong feelings against female foeticide, Aish plans to highlight the cause in his next album. “I also plan to sing for movies in the future,” he sums up to say.
