New Delhi Hindustan FC had little choice than winning their seventh-round tie against Simla Youngs, with just two games remaining. No insurances came with the deserving 2-0 victory, but it was enough to put them in the top league with Indian Nationals and New Delhi Heroes (with 14 points from seven matches Hindustan are third on goal difference). In the process, Hindustan punched Simla Youngs out of reckoning and set the last couple of rounds of the DSA Super league alive with no outright favourites yet.

The win also brought a few smiles back to the team management who weren’t too pleased with the performances of their foreign recruits, Sunday and Okorogo upfront. After failing to make a mark earlier, Okorogo was involved in both the goals on Monday — first taking a corner kick that was headed in by Mahendar Kumar in the 29th minute and then netting a scorcher in the second half from 35 yards off the goal line as Simla Youngs custodian Gopal Singh was left unmoved.

Meanwhile, the DSA League sub committee has issued a show cause notice to the Hindustan club secretary as per referee S Saha’s complaint that he had abused and threatened him after the match, following some decisions against his players. The club management, however, denied all such allegations and the receipt of any official notice from the DSA.
