New Delhi, February 25 The Akhil Bharthiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) went on a rampage on Monday as it destroyed windowpanes and furniture of the History Department of Delhi University over the controversial History text book. But what they did not expect was that students of the department would retaliate.

Students Federation of India and Krantikari Yuva Sangathan gathered at the Arts Faculty along with the students to face the ABVP as the Delhi Police tried to keep the two groups apart. The incident has become political because the controversial book was compiled by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s daughter Upinder Singh.

The State Joint Secretary of ABVP, Rohit Chahal, said, “No action is being taken by the University because Upinder Singh has compiled the text book.” Upinder Singh was not available for comments.

Saiyid Zaheer Hussain Jafri, the Head of the Department of History said that resorting to campus violence will not change anything.
