Lucknow Two men died after their motorcycle was hit by a vehicle allegedly belonging to the convoy of Bhojpuri actor Manoj Tiwari, in the outskirts of Gorakhpur on Friday night.

The victims — Raj Kumar and Pintu — were both residents of Gorakhpur. A case of negligence driving was registered against unidentified persons in the Khajni police station. “The complainant Daya Ram, elder brother of Pintu, has stated in the FIR that he came to know about the accident through some eye-witnesses, who told him that a motorcycle had been hit by a vehicle that belonged to the cavalcade of Manoj Tiwari,” said Station Officer Meewa Lal Suman. Identity of the vehicle has not been established yet, he added.

The police have not contacted Tiwari, but have confirmed that his convoy had passed through the area on Friday night. Angry villagers also held demonstrations to protest against the accident.

Tiwari is also a Samajwadi Party candidate for Gorakhpur Lok Sabha seat.
