“People have acquired a taste for sushi and it is popular among health freaks,” acknowledges Sohrab Sitaram of Tabula Rasa. So now, you can sample delicately flavoured Enari rolls in a crispy golden tofu wrapping and California rolls in bentou boxes that cost Rs 1,500 for an assortment of 20 rolls.
The fondue selection, however, is limited, so far, only to chocolate recipes. A Swiss communal meal traditionally made with simmering goat cheese or hot oil is not on the cards yet, instead, fusion recipes with warm molten chocolate peppered with sake or whiskey will make the bubbly dip. Since there are hardly a handful of eateries that offer fondues, Tabula Rasa may just strike the right note if they get their flavours and pricing in order with this one. It’s not cheap: priced between Rs 500 to Rs 1,500, the fondue pot will accompany fresh fruits like strawberries and kiwis; brownies and marshmallows. “We’ll offer interesting side options like bacon to go with some chocolate fondues. A diet chocolate fondue is also on cards,” adds Sitaram. The restaurant also plans to offer Rotiboy bakes as dippables that are popular in Malaysia and Korea. So, now you can spear your favourite tidbit with that long two-pronged fondue fork and twirl the morsel in a warm, gooey chocolate dip. Bon Appetit!
