Faizabad Officials of the Forest department, along with wildlife experts, continued combing operations for the Faizabad maneater on Sunday.

The tiger was allegedly wounded on Saturday evening by a bullet fired by shooter Shafaat Ali Khan, nawab of Hyderabad.

“If the injury was deep, the tiger will not survive. Otherwise, the injury will restrict its movement and then it will be easy to tranquilise it,” said Khan.

The Nawab said he had fired when the tiger charged at them from a short distance.

A trail of blood, which disappeared into the thick undergrowth, has been found, said an official.

“Apparently, the big cat was hiding in the impenetrable part of the jungle,’ said Faizabad District Forest Officer O P Singh.

Around 100 people were involved in the search for the tiger, which has been eluding the tracking teams for three months now.
