Hurricane Panwar thunders with 163

Mumbai, January 11 Delhi boy Ravinder Panwar was at his devastating best while hammering an unbeaten 163 in Mahanagar Telephone Nigam’s imposing score of the 276 for five off 40 overs against National Mineral Development Corporation in the pre-quarterfinal of the All India Public Sector cricket tournament, for the Air India Plate, at RCF ground, Chembur, on Friday.

Ravinder batted for 125 minutes and his aggressive knocked contained 15 fours. In reply, National Mineral were shot out for 56 with Amit Singh claiming six for 22.

Prasar Bharati batsmen made hey while hitting up 256 for six in the allotted 40 overs against HUDCO and then their bowlers took over and dismissed them for 128 with medium pacer Baljit Singh being their top destroyer with three for 36.

Earlier, the tournament was inaugurated by Mr Shiva Kumar, Member (Personnel)d and Vice President of the All India Publ,ic Sector Sports Promotion Board at Elf ground.

The chief attraction of the tournament is theMumbai-London-Mumbai ticket, which the hosts Air India will give to the Man of the tournament, in both the Air India Cup and Air India Plate events.

AT MCA KANDIVLI GROUND: (Pre-quarterfinal): Neyvelli Lignite Corpn 139 (B. Bhaskar 40; Saed Shaikh 4 for 7, Nishit Dulap 4 for 21) lost to New India Assurance 144 for 2 (Bhupesh Sawant n.o. 79, Salman Ahmed 29. MAN OF THE MATCH – Bhupesh Sawant.
AT RCF GROUND: (Pre-quarterfinal): MTNL 276 for 5 (Ravinder Panwar n.o. 163; Asgar Ali 2 for 50) but National Mineral Devp. Corpn. 56 (Amit Singh 6 for 22). MAN OF THE MATCH – Ravinder Panwar.
AT MIG CC GROUND: (Quarterfinal): Coal India 85 (Amit Khaira 23; Sarik Petkar 5 for 29, Virendra Kambli 2 for 35, Chintan Shah 2 for 8) lost to RCF 86 for 2 (Sachin Kakdekar n.o. 30). MAN OF THE MATCH – Sarik Petkar.
