Pune Husband and two children of the 34-year-old woman, who had tested positive for H1N1 virus (swine flu), have tested negative for the virus. She is the third case in Pune.

The taxi driver, who ferried them from Mumbai to Pune, has also tested negative, said Dr R R Pardeshi, chief medical officer, health, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

Pardeshi said he, along with other officials, was present at the Naidu Hospital where they administered prophylactic dose of Tami flu in syrup form to the woman’s two children, who are five-and-half-years old and sixteen months old. The family stays in San Francisco and were visiting their relatives in India. “We could not trace the driver who ferried them to various places in Mumbai,’’ says Pardeshi adding that they were contacting other officials in Mumbai.

The National Institute of Virology, that has tested nearly 600 samples of H1N1 virus, also confirmed one more positive case of a person who landed at the Bangalore International airport. The throat swab has tested positive, says Dr M S Chadda, deputy director NIV. However, no new cases were reported in Pune on Friday.
