A 38-year-old woman was set on fire allegedly by her husband and a minor daughter in Model Town on Saturday evening. Injured Surinder Kaur has been admitted in the Civil Hospital with 90 per cent burns.
The Model Town police, meanwhile, have registered an attempt to murder case against Surinder Kaur's husband Gurmeet Singh and her 13-year-old daughter. However, no arrest has been made as the accused are reportedly on the run.
Surinder Kaur, who is struggling for her life, has told the police that the duo doused her in kerosene and set her on fire on Saturday evening after she had a minor altercation with her husband.
Surinder Kaur was married to Gurmeet Singh around 15 years ago and they have only one daughter. Their relations were not good.
Model Town SHO Beant Kumar Juneja said after registering an attempt to murder case against the accused, the police have started investigating the matter. “We went to the house of Gurmeet Singh, who runs a footwear shop, but could not find anyone as the house was locked. We are searching for the both accused,” the Station House Officer said.
