In town for Raaz - The Mystery Continues, actors Adhyayan Suman & Kangana Ranaut whisper their secrets

Time lost all essence in this particular context. As Raaz - The Mystery Continues promos continued to tease us every 60 seconds, we kept wondering what’s taking the two so long. Hmm, come to think of it, they are a ‘couple’ of things. Okay, we’ll just cut to the chase and tell you Adhyayan Suman ko gussa kyon aata hai - “So we are a couple, but it should not become the centre of every promotional tour we go to! Trust me, I’ll have a separate press conference to talk about my relationship, so let’s just stick to Raaz here,” shoots Suman Junior, stressing on the fact that this is his debut film. “Not Haal-e-Dil.” Because it bombed? “No, because I did a cameo in it,” the 21-year-old sure is a shooting-splitting copy of his dad and mentor, Shekhar Suman.

After a brief apology for turning up (very) late, Kangana Ranaut and Adhyayan took their seats and got on to some serious ghostbusting. “I play a model, Nandita who has a live-in relationship with Adhyayan’s character, Yash, and she feels she’s being haunted by a ghost and wants to crack this mystery,” Kangana’s diction’s really improved. “I’m the opposite - an atheist in the film, who has a scientific explanation for every occurrence,” counters Adhyayan. But the secret is that the lad, in real life, is a believer, and really scared of the dark. “All throughout the film shoot, I felt I would get possessed,” whispers Adhyayan, who makes it a point to go to the temple every day! On the contrary, his girl, Kangana’s plays ‘I dare’. What about live-in then? “People are becoming gays! Everyone has a right to their personal choice and view, who am I to say anything, but live-in doesn’t suit me, I’m still pretty grounded, and once I’m secured enough in my career, I’ll go for marriage,” she says, looking every bit ravishing, just like the stunning characters she enacts. “Women should learn to change the standards of beauty. As for films, I pick scripts that have a psychological edge to it,” she opts for the ones which bring out her ‘wild streak’. “The industry’s quite harsh with newcomers...unless you are a star-kid, you are used. I’ve learnt well, and so stick to character-oriented screenplays,” she lets out her secret: “I’m a 21-year-old who feels and thinks like a 40-year-old!”

Next round of truth and dare has Adhyayan calling himself a ‘strange guy’. “Two years back, I was a 120 kilo heavy guy who got enrolled in the New York Film Academy to learn direction for with this weight I thought I had no career in acting! But then came the entire trend of 8-12 packs, and I got into shape,” according to Adhyayan, the secret to success is stardom. “Because people look up to a star. Kangana and Emraan (also in the film) are already stars. I’m new and have to win over the admiration,” Adhyayan believes an actor should sing, act, dance, fight, direct, produce, practically do everything. “I will direct soon,” he’s in a rush. “I plucked a grey hair from my head...I don’t have time!” while Kangana sits there, soaking in the sun, refusing to talk about her Kites.

Now that secrets came tumbling out, here’s another one from the two - they are both very impressed with Aamir Khan and want to work with him. And Adhyayan doesn’t mind a bit of telly too. “Television made my father a star, so why not,” he says. Incidentally, it’s Mahesh Bhatt who’s promised Adhyayan a “superstar status”, and he’s looking forward to his next with him, Jashn - Music Within.

Meanwhile, Raaz, which will release this Friday, has earned itself a A certificate. Talk skin show, and Kangana shoots: “This is not a B/C grade film where skin show is soft porn. It’s a quality film, and if my character requires to shed a little, it will. But remember, always know where to draw the line.” Let’s leave that to the special effects department! .
