Khanna Rai Singh, a retired IAS officer and a native of Sirhind declared confidence in getting a nod from the Congress to contest the Fatehgarh (Reserve) constituency in the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Talking to mediapersons, he said: “I have gone through the envelope which contains the name of the party candidate from Fatehgarh Sahib and it has my name.”

He added: “I decided to contest the election after getting directions from the party high command.” When asked about his contenders, Singh said: “I had a talk with former PPCC president Shamsher Singh Dullo, who told me he is not interested in contesting from Fatehgarh Sahib and has requested the high command that he is willing to contest from Hoshiarpur or Jalandhar.”

Singh retired from Uttar Pradesh as a chief secretary rank officer.

He said: “Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal has appointed his family members and relatives at various levels.” He further alleged that the CBI and the Central Board of Direct Taxes are not performing their duties to nail the corrupt practices of the Badal family.

He threatened to file a public interest litigation (PIL) in the Punjab and Haryana High Court if they failed to perform their duties.”

Singh added, “I have toured all the nine assembly constituencies which are under the Fatehgarh Sahib constituency and received a tremendous response from people.”
