ICWAI launches accounting course for undergrads

Chandigarh The Institute of Cost and Works Accountants of India (ICWAI) has launched a new undergraduate accounting technician course with an aim to increase job prospects at the corporate level.

This was announced by Kunal Banerjee, president of ICWAI, at a media conference held on Friday.

A student who has passed the Class XII examination from a recognised Board would be eligible for the course.

As part of the course, one would have to pass six papers and also complete a computer training programme. Students will also be required to undergo practical training of six months, after which the certificate would be awarded.

Speaking about affiliations, Banerjee said that the institute had signed an agreement for mutual recognition of the ICWAI course with a leading management company in UK.

The institute has also signed an MoU with the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU).

The MoU provides for recognition of the ICWAI examination where by students of the institute shall be eligible for the IGNOU BCom degree after passing a set of four exams.

The same applies for students seeking an MCom degree.
