IDA and PCMS condemn case against doctors

Ludhiana, March 4 Indian Dental Association’s (IDA) Ludhiana branch today held its executive committee meeting, in which they offered full support to IMA in its protest against the high-headedness of public against the ‘innocent doctors’ of Krishna Charitable Hospital, Model Town.

IDA has strongly recommended its decisions to Punjab government, for ‘making a law against such hooligans, and safeguard the innocent doctors who performing their duties in most conscientious manner’. It has asked the government to follow the example of AP, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, in making a law to this effect. The members expressed their unhappiness over the circumstances taking shape in the state.

Dr Vikas Jindal, Secretary, IDA Ludhiana Branch, said that it is very unfortunate that the innocent doctors are targeted by the public for serving the humanity. Members felt that it is difficult to work if one is initimidated by such hooligans. The members also felt that serious patients will suffer in the long run, as it will be difficult for the doctors to treat in such environment.

The Punjab Civil Medical Services (PCMS) Association has also resented against the registration of a criminal case against the doctors of Krishna Charitable Hospital.

In a statement issued here today, the association pointed out that while the people responsible for vandalism in the hospital and for taking law in their own hand are spared by police, the doctors and the staff is implicated in false cases without any inquiry by a medical board. The PCMS doctors also joined protest rallies held by IMA, Ludhiana.

Dr Hardeep Singh, state president and Dr Balwinder Kumar, district general secretary of PCMS Association, condemned the “discriminatory and unlawful action of Ludhiana police in registering false cases against doctors who were actually victims of hooliganism.
