The ongoing campus recruitment seems to be bright and promising for the students of Indian Institute of Management, Calcutta. On the first two days of the slot zero placements, (term used by the university to determine the companies which are most sought after and offer the most lucrative package) the students have received 91 offers. While the placement process is in full swing, the 2010 batch (280 students) already has around 215 offers to choose from. Last year, the institute had only 39 offers in the slot zero category. The authorities claim that even before the placements began on March 6, the institute already had 125 offers which included Pre-Placement and Lateral offers. “Of the 215 offers, around 160 students are expected to get their dream offers and it is likely that they would not opt for any further placement,” said Samyukktha Thirumeni, External Relation Secretary of IIM-C. The highest recruiters at the campus include Accenture with 11 offers, American Express with six offers and Tata Administrative Services (TAS) with six offers. The students were particularly excited on the second day of slot zero with offers from TAS.
“We are happy that this year 17 bright students from IIM-Calcutta will experience the comprehensive cross-functional and cross-sector training which is unique to TAS as summer interns and managers,” said Rahul Krishna, Head of TAS. While TAS has recruited six students from IIM-C, 11 students will be doing their summer internship with the company.
