IIM-C’s manufacturing MBA programme creates a buzz

Kolkata Post the global economic downturn, there is a growing demand of management graduates who have specialised in manufacturing sector. The students of the unique postgraduate programme for executives - visionary leadership manufacturing (PGPEX-VLM) has recorded a 56 per cent jump in the salary package this year, compared to last year. While the average salary of the students of PGPEX-VLM was Rs 8 lakh in 2009-10, this year the average salary has risen to Rs 12.5 lakh. The one-of-its-kind programme in the country is conducted in collaboration with IIT-Kanpur, IIT-Chennai and IIM-Calcutta. The 26 students were registered with 335 jobs during the placement process. Some of the companies that came to hire the graduates were Wipro, Tata Cummins,

ITC, Voltas, TCS, Vedanta, HP, Cummins, Bharat Mcnally, Shinsei Bank and Wheels India.
