Lucknow
At a time when economies are facing recession and companies are giving least importance to striking a balance between environment and profits, Manfest-2009 — the annual business conclave of IIM, Lucknow — aims to teach the budding managers the importance of “clean technology” and at the same time being able to make profits. The theme of the conclave, scheduled to begin from January 16, is therefore “Sustainable Development: Fueling the Future”. “We want to give the message that we should not exploit natural resources with the aim of making profits. Rather, the resources should be used in such a way that companies can make profits and maintain environmental balances also,” said Sugam Dhall, a student at IIM-L and a member of the organising committee. Over 1,000 B-school students and over 100 participants from the corporate world will attend the three-day conclave.
