On Wednesday, the Panchkula Administration had freed the sisters, residents of Sector 2, from their ‘forced’ confinement and provided them protection.

The girls, in their complaint to the Chief Judicial Magistrate, had accused Zaidi of physically assaulting and torturing them in an effort to usurp their share of the property. The sisters belong to the royal family of Raipur Rani.

“Babban Zaidi has been booked under various sections of the IPC for forgery, cheating, threatening of life and criminal intimidation. However, no one has been arrested yet,” said Station House Officer of the Sector-5 police station Inspector Baljit Singh.

Earlier, the girls had lodged a complaint with the National Woman Rights Commission in New Delhi.

Talking to Newsline, Babban Zaidi said: “We have been looking after the girls since they were kids. I never intended to seize their property, in fact, I was planning to transfer the deeds in their names now that they are adults. It is still a mystery to me that why have they gone complaining about us to the police.”

The girls’ father, Hasan Murtaza, had allegedly set his wife Ruksana on fire at their house in Sector 2 nearly 16 years ago. He was awarded life imprisonment by an Ambala court in 1997.
