Acting on a tip-off, a crime branch team nabbed Okodi from his residence in Community co-operative housing society, Kondhwa Khurd. The crime branch sleuths conducted a search at his residence during which they found the fake international driving licences. The police have also recovered a computer from the spot, which carried a format and design of these fake licences. The police have seized the computer’s hard disk.

The police are probing if Okodi is a part of some racket providing fake driving licences to the foreign students in the city and other parts.

The crime branch team also nabbed a Sudanese student identified as Mohammed Mahgaub Hamad Mohammed from Amba Vatika society, NIBM Road in Kondhwa. The police checked his passport and VISA. It was known that Mohammed had the permit to stay in Hyderabad. But he was staying in Kondhwa area since September 2008.

So far, the police have not booked the suspects under any sections of law. A senior crime branch officer said that the suspects would be blacklisted and then deported to their nations following the official procedure.

The investigation team include Deputy Commissioner (crime) Anil Kumbhare, Assistant Commissioner Sangramsinh Nishandar, inspector Kishor Jadhav, assistant inspectors Chandrakant Thakur, Raghunath Phuge, havaldars Kashinath Jagtap, Balasaheb Jarad, Madadev Dimble, naik Baba Shirke, constables Vilas Gujar, Shakil Shaikh, Sachin Dhavale. The plice are also checking whether the owners of the two apartments in Community Co-operative Housing Society and the Amba Vatika Society in Kondhwa area have informed the police after renting their properties.
