Ragging:DC issues advisory to educational institutions
NAHAN:Sirmour Deputy Commissioner Padam Singh Chauhan said on Friday it was mandatory for all educational institutions to mention in their prospectus about criminal action to be taken against any student caught ragging a junior. Presiding over a meeting of the anti-ragging committee here, he said a similar caution should find mention in the advertisements placed by the institutions for admission purpose. Chauhan said the institutions must take an affidavit from each student during admission that he would not involve in any ragging activity.

Environment meet at Chail Military School from tomorrow
SOLAN:
A two-day ‘Green Champions Meet’, aimed to create awareness about environment and use of recycled waste, will begin at the Rashtriya Military School in Chail on November 9. Students from various schools of the country will participate in the meet to be organised by the school in collaboration with the World Wildlife Federation (WWF), India, and Bombay Natural Historical Society. Col A S Sidhu, Director (Ecology), Integrated Headquarter, Union Ministry for Defence, will be the chief guest.

Shimla Bar steps up opposition to new judicial complex
SHIMLA:
Stepping up its opposition to the proposed judicial courts complex, the Shimla Bar Association tried to seek support of some voluntary and social organisations, besides elected public representatives, on Thursday to build up pressures to abandon the plans. A statement issued by the association said an 11-member joint action committee would chalk out the future course of action and also a protest plan. “The site proposed by the government (the foundation stone was laid by the chief justice of India) is not suitable because it is far away from the town,” said the statement.
