Airhostess commits suicide
Priyanka Tiwari, an airhostess of Kingfisher Airlines, on Saturday committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling of her bedroom. The incident took place in Kaikhali, North 24-Parganas. According to police, Tiwari (28) used to work as a cabin crew in the airlines. She used to stay along with two other women in a rented apartment. Her friends also worked in the airline industry. According to police, one of her friends was on flight duty on Friday night whereas the other was on leave. Tiwari returned home in the evening after her duty. The domestic help who worked in the apartment found the door bolted from inside on Saturday morning. As she received no response, she raised an alarm. The district police have informed her parents who reside in Gangtok.

Power shortage to increase: chief secy
With the state suffering from major power failure, Chief Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty on Saturday admitted that the shortfall was likely to go up to around 300 to 350 MW. With the collapse of the Sagardighi power plant, the state has been suffering from a major power shortfall.
