NOIDA Two women journalists, who were returning home in an office car, were halted and attacked in Noida on Tuesday night.

The incident occurred around 11.30 pm near Sector 10. According to the complaint lodged by the journalists, they were on their way home from office when their Innova was stopped.

“The two motorcyclists were chasing us from a distance of 100 metre. The first attempt made by the motorcyclists to stop the car failed but in their second attempt, they stopped their motorcycle in front of our car,” the complainant said.

Ajay, the driver of the Innova said that the two motorcyclists first pretended as if the car was trying to overtake them.

“They stopped their motorcycle in front of our car and said that I was trying to overtake them. One of them took away the keys of my car from the window that was slightly open,” the driver added.

Soon, one of the motorcyclists opened the front door and entered the car.

“I activated the speaker mode of my cellphone so that my friend could hear what was happening inside the car. The assailant asked us to hand over our rings, chains and money. I suddenly started dictating their motorcycle number to my friend, when they realised that someone is being briefed about the incident, the assailant rushed out of the car and broke his number plate (DL7SBA4411),” one of the journalists said.

The two motorcycle borne assailants then left the spot. An FIR has been registered with the Noida police.

Talking to Newsline, Superintendent of Police (City), Noida, Ashok Tripathi said that the assailants will be arrested soon.

“I have directed the concerned police in-charge to investigate the matter and take necessary steps to make arrests,” Tripathi added.
