Vadodara The idea of ‘One booth, ten youths’ for BJP Yuva Morcha (BJYM), floated by Chief Minister Narendra Modi ten years ago, could not be replicated at every district and taluka level.

Nevertheless, Jigar Inamdar, who used this concept to promote the party when he contested as a BJP candidate from Savli taluka in Vadodara district for the Gujarat Assembly Elections 2007, is making an attempt to spread this idea in the entire state for the forthcoming

Lok Sabha elections scheduled next month.

Inamdar, who is BJYM’s Gujarat general secretary, said: “The idea of ‘one booth, ten youths’ was floated by Modi in 1998. The aim was to have a ten-member squad to keep tabs on the voters’ list and accordingly canvass for the party. The original idea was to involve five men, five women and five seniors who can offer guidance.”

There is, however, a slight change in the policy, wherein every ten-member squad will have around three women.

“Even as the idea was promoted in the entire country after 1998, it was not implemented all across Gujarat,” he said.

BJYM conducted a meeting at the Town Hall in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

Inamdar said, “The meeting was held to plan and spread the idea across the state.”

In the meeting, over 10 lakh youths were assigned the task of keeping tabs on voters in the 42,000 polling booths in the state once the Lok Sabha elections start next month.
