‘India still showing trends of growth’

Chandigarh The Chandigarh Administration organised the State Awards-2008 for Promoting Entrepreneurship at the UT Guest House, Sector 6, on Tuesday. Advisor to the UT Administrator Pradip Mehra was the chief guest on the occasion.

M/s Essen Deinki, M/s Chandigarh Flour Mills Private Ltd and M/s Azad Offset Printers (P) Ltd received the first, second and third prizes respectively. Two consolation prizes were also given to M/s Engraavepro and M/s Adharshila Potteries. The winners of the first, second and third prizes were also conferred with cash prizes of Rs 15,000, Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively. The performance of the industries was evaluated for last three years on factors such as rate of growth, choice of technology, product development, quality control, innovation, import substitution and export diversification.

While delivering the keynote address, Mehra said: “Even in the times of global meltdown, countries like India and China are still showing trends of growth and expanding rapidly.”

Secretary (Home-cum-Industries), Ram Niwas stated that a number of schemes had been introduced by the Chandigarh Administration to support industries.
