“We have been into this profession for the past several years, and love to perform. Circus in India is very different from what we have in other countries, where stunts are performed only by artists. But here in India, it is all about fun, animals and excitement,” said No Mi Che, a 22-year-old Australian who will be performing ring dance and cloud swing in the Asiad circus. Similarly, Jenny Glowsacki, 22 -year-old Australian, said both of them learnt the art from National Institute of Circus Art, Melbourne.
Jenny added that back in their country, circus is more contemporary while in India, it is a traditional one where they love to perform.
“We do not know about India, but the art is really booming in foreign countries. We have performed in Australia, London, France, Scotland, India and America,” said Jenny.
Suku says, “I’ve been around for several years now. I recently got married to an artist here in the circus. Circus for us is a small family and we love to be here. But for my children, I would never want them to enter this arena as life is pretty tough here.” On her globe riding feat, she learnt the skill around four years ago. “It looked very risky initially and I even hurt myself once. But then, I was determined to learn and finally mastered it,” adds Suku with a smile.
