Former President Dr A P J Abdul Kalam presented the award during the 37th Dairy Industry Conference in Goa on Saturday. The award consists of a memento along with a citation and a cash award of Rs 1 lakh.
IDA instituted the award in collaboration with the Paras Group in 2008 to honour individuals for outstanding technological innovation in the field of dairy technology.
While serving in GCMMF, Vyas had introduced the concept of total quality management across the supply chain, developed 20 new products and developed India’s largest cold chain network. He also created India’s largest ice-cream and milk brand, said a press statement issued by the GCMMF.
He guided the implementation of self-leadership programme at the village level, which led to deployment of technology at the grassroots in the form of automatic milk collection system, bulk-chilling units and the like, the release added.
