Indian financial sector has undergone sea change after liberalisation: expert

Ludhiana A seminar on the changing paradigm of international business - India’s global competitiveness — was held at the Department of Commerce and Economics, Kamla Lohtia Sanatan Dharam College, today.

Dr H L Verma, Management professor, Haryana School of Business was the keynote speaker.

In the first technical session, Dr Sanjay Kaushik, reader, University Business School, Panjab University, presented a paper on FDI in India. He further highlighted the state of the world economy with special reference to India. He said the country needs more FDI to strengthen the economy.

Dr M C Garg, reader, Guru Jambheshwar University, delivered a talk on the ‘Financial Service Sector in India’. He said the financial sector in India has undergone sea change after liberalisation.

In the second technical session, Dr Anil Mittal, reader, Kurukshetra University, presented a paper on institutional investors in the Indian stock market. He said it is not FIIs but mutual fund operations, which are affecting the Indian market.
