The Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) has called upon Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda for an open debate on the performance of the state government. In a statement issued here today, INLD Secretary General, Ajay Singh Chautala criticised the state government for not making any budgetary provisions for the pensions for the aged, handicapped and widows, despite making announcements. He reiterated that if the INLD-BJP alliance comes to power, it would provide Rs 700 as monthly pension to these sections “without the conditions imposed by the present government”. Unemployed youth would also be given Rs 1,000 as unemployment fund, he added.
Terming the Hooda government a failure, Chautala said the CM had expressed the desire to have a open debate himself but even after one month of the Opposition having accepted the call, Hooda is yet to respond. He listed several unfulfilled promises of the Congress government, including the completion of the SYL canal, besides constitution of a development council, a human rights commission and a minority commission.
