Chandigarh The Haryana government has decided to create an Utkrisht Khiladi Kosh (UK-3) to provide insurance benefits to all outstanding sportspersons in the state. The insurance will cover athletes against any eventuality or adverse consequence arising out of a sporting engagement, said Kiran Choudhary, Minister of state for Sports and Youth Affairs, yesterday. The Kosh aims to arrange cashless treatment facilities for sportspersons through a tripartite agreement between UK-3, insurance companies and hospitals.

Choudhary also announced that the government intends to increase its matching contributions to the construction of sports stadiums from fifty per cent to ninety-five per cent for village-level stadiums, ninety per cent for block-level stadiums, and one-hundred per cent for sports complexes at the district headquarters.

District sports complexes are being constructed in Fatehabad and Kaithal districts, she added, with sports complexes planned for Mewat, Sonepat, Palwal and Jhajjar. Village-level stadiums were sanctioned this year.
