Inter-industry cricket: AFK, Sujanil win

Pune AFK and Sujanil advanced to the next round of the twenty-20 industrial cricket tournament organised by Tata Motors Pimpri and held at the Tata Motors cricket ground, Pimpri, on Friday.

AFK were up against Thermax, which won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a decent total of 117 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Tushar Kadam played a stellar knock of 54 runs and steered his team to a respectable total. Mukesh Gujarathi gave him good support with 29 runs. Satish Rotellu did most of the damage with the ball for AFK picking up three wickets for 18 runs.

In reply, AFK achieved their target with five wickets to spare in 19.2 overs. Dynaneshwar Jagdale top-scored with 50 runs and Dominic Joseph steered his team to victory with an unbeaten cameo of 16 runs. Balchandra Dhake and Riyaz Utwale did well to pick up five wickets between them but could not restrict the opposition from winning the match. The man of the match award was given to Dynaneshwar Jagdale for his all-round performance.

In another match, Sujanil Chemo Industries beat TML B by six wickets. TML B won the toss and batted first. They put up a decent total of 127 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 20 overs. Prasad Salvi top-scored with 25 runs. Abhijit Sapkal was Sujanil’s best bowler picking up three wickets for 24 runs. In reply, Sujanil reached their target with six wickets to spare, with Rushabh Rathod playing a good innings of 32 not out. Amol Babar and Milind Mulay picked up a wicket each for TML B. Abhijit Sapkal was declared the man of the match for his bowling performance.
