Inter-IT cricket: KPIT wins thriller

Pune Kpit Cummins Infosystems beat Patni computers by two wickets in what was a thrilling encounter in the 'Clash of IT 2009' inter-IT cricket tournament organised by Maharashtra Krida and held at the Katariya High School cricket ground over the weekend.

Patni Computers won the toss and elected to bat first. They put up a decent total of 145 runs for the loss of eight wickets in their stipulated 25 overs. Prashant Dwivedi top-scored with 41 runs and Alok Nagraj chipped in with a handy 37.

For KPIT, Sumit Ranade was the strike bowler picking up four important wickets. Justin Lopes supported him well, scalping three wickets.

In reply, KPIT narrowly achieved their target with two wickets and not a ball to spare. They were greatly helped by Vishal Pargunde (36 runs) and Prajyot Damle (22 runs) who remained unbeaten till the end.

Prashant Dwivedi spearheaded the Patni Computers attack picking up four wickets for twenty-three runs. Vishal Pargunde was adjudged the man of the match for his batting performance.

Edenbrook 155/ 7 in 25 overs (Sagar Junnu 53*, Hiren Naik 32, Nilesh Barpande 28*, Pawan Dikondwar 2/24, Prashant K 2/21), Komli 84/ All Out in 18.3 overs (Dinesh Kandhai 25, Sagar Junnu 3/10, Jabbar Shaikh 2/18) Edenbrook won the match by 71 runs. Man of the match: Sagar Junnu (Edenbrook)
