A resident of Dwarka, Rajnish is the son of a retired Colonel J R Sharma.
Deputy Commissioner of Police H G S Dhaliwal said the girls were brought from Central Asian countries on the pretext of starting a business of garment design and modelling.
Once the girls arrived, the accused would take away their passports, and would coerce them to act on their directions, he said.
“The passport of one of the complainants was recovered from the possession of Umidda. She had landed in India on June 14 last year with a visa valid till June 26. But she was made to overstay and work on their directions for almost six months,” the police said.
Recently, the girl approached the police, but could not communicate as she did not know English. A translator was arranged and a case was registered, the police said.
Under the garb of a taxi business, Rajnish was running the racket. The taxis were used to take the girls to customers in five star hotels.
During interrogation, Rajnish disclosed that he married Umidda so that he could stay at her house in Delhi and get girls from abroad. “They would get each girl for about $3000; the girls would have tourist visas of 3-6 months,” the police said.
According to the police, Rajnish revealed that there are at least three more such modules active in Delhi and the NCR.
The police said it is a big catch as victims from abroad are complainants. Further investigation in the case are on.
