“The letter has come very late. Now it is not possible to obey his orders,” Sen said.
Chatterjee, meanwhile, threw his hands in despair. “I told them not to allow anybody in the box. Now, if they do not listen to me, what do I do? I cannot fight with the police,” the minister said.
Chatterjee, however, said he had no problems with the KKR and even claimed Shah Rukh Khan has offered to make a movie starring the minister, who has acted in several Bengali films.
Meanwhile, to reach an amicable settlement over the super-hospitality enclosure, Sports Minister Kanti Ganguly met Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Tuesday.
The hospitality enclosure has 400 seats and according to the fire department, anything more than 250 violates safety norms on that structure.
The Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB), meanwhile, has washed its hands of the controversy. “It’s KKR and the state government’s problem. It’s for the government to decide if the enclosure can be used and it’s KKR’s decision as to how many tickets will be sold for that block. They (KKR) have set the stage and they are in charge of it. We have been unnecessarily made a party to the FIR lodged by the fire department,” CAB joint-secretary Biswarup Dey said.
