I-T dept raids G City Builder’s office

Chandigarh, February 1 As part of its ongoing survey in the Tricity, the Income Tax department raided the office of one Jitender Mittal, who runs G City Builder along with his brother Joginder, in Sector 34 A on Friday. While the raid was still on till the last reports came in, sources said the department found huge assets disproportionate to the builder’s known sources of income. Mittals also owns Rishi Apartments at various places, like Baddi, Zirakpur and Mohali.

Till the filing of the report, sources said, Rs 2 crore had been found disproportionate to their sources of income. A team of officials from the Income Tax Office also surveyed the Sector 7 office of BS Sales in Chandigarh, one of the prominent sanitary dealers.

After the raid at Shubham Hospital in Sector 20, the Panchkula police have found that Sandeep Sharma, the doctor running the hospital, was a quack and owed Rs 6 crore to various banks of the city. Sharma, along with his associates, is on the run. Page 5
