Chandigarh, December 31 The BSP and the BJP may have been talking about giving a collective fight to the Congress in the mayoral polls on Tuesday, but the parties haven’t reached a final agreement. On Saturday, two BSP councillors had joined the Congress. BSP’s Harmohan Dhawan, who had accused the Congress of offering money to the BSP councillors and lodged a complaint with police today, said, “We have made an offer to the BJP-SAD alliance to support us this year just as we had supported them last year. I am ready to make a commitment that if it happens, we will support the BJP-SAD alliance for the next two years. But no final word has come from the alliance”. With both the BJP and the BSP adamant on fielding their own candidate for the elections, it may be an easy run for Congress candidate Pardeep Chhabra. With 16 of their own party councillors in the House, the Congress requires only three more for a victory. BJP’s Gurcharan Dass Kala has the support of eight councillors and BSP’s Jatinder Bhatia has the support of three.
