These final semester students- Sanket Gohil, Miren Karamta, Mounish Ambaliya, Bhavin Patel, Monarch Patel and Kalpen Patel- who are all set to step out in a real world in couple of months, made the movie just to have fun and preserve the good memories of the time spent at college.
All the departments — behind and in front of the camera, including production, direction, story, dialogues, screenplay, acting, music, song writing and editing — were handled by the six. A special screening was organised at Rangoli Park in Rajkot on Thursday night, where classmates, friends and family members of the filmmakers enjoyed this 16mm film.
Though producer and director Sanket Gohil is not sure when they would have the second show, but he is determined to go for another project with an improved standard.
"These days, even a small gathering of students at a restaurant would cost Rs 1000 to 1500. But we decided to invest in such an activity that can be fun and memorable. And what's better than a movie that also gives a chance to try one's hand at creativity," says Sanket.
The film is about the 'first half of life,' which according to them is the College Life — where youngsters build blocks for the 'second half' of their life. The story revolves around two groups — one of serious students and the other of intelligent but careless boys. The movie has a happy ending with all the students succeeding in achieving their goals and managing to get settled.
The movie has been shot on a handycam, and songs and stories were penned down while sipping tea at the college canteen. The production cost also didn’t run high because Sanket's family runs an editing studio, which helped the group to overcome many technical problems. Picturised at home, college and outdoors of Rajkot City, the film may lack special effect and outstanding performance, but interest, enthusiasm and efforts of those involved in it drew applause and appreciation of the viewers.
