I-T surveys carried out at three jewellery units

Surat Income Tax department officers of Range 6, under the guidance of Additional Commissioner K Ganeshan, have conducted surveys at the units of three jewellery business groups in Bardoli and Surat.

More than 20 I-T officials were involved in the drive, which started on Thursday evening and ended on Friday afternoon.

The surveys were carried out at offices and shops of the jewellery firms as well as at the residences of the promoters in Surat city and Bardoli. The officers have unearthed unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 3 crore and seized several incriminating documents, which are under scrutiny.

Sources in the I-T department said that unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 18 crore has been unearthed by the department officials in its surveys carried out this month.
