Kolkata Parents of the 15-year-old girl, who was arrested yesterday for murdering her aunt with the help of her karate teacher, were also arrested by the police today. The teacher, Murari Kumar, is still absconding.

According to the police, the girl had told her parents, Biplab and Malabika Dutta Chowdhury about committing the crime. But they suppressed the incident to save their daughter.

The teenage girl and her teacher had strangulated 52-year-old Alpana Dutta Choudhury, as she had objected to the duo’s relationship after catching them in a compromising position at the residence of the girl at Jadavpur.

“The teenager used to learn karate at a local club run by Kumar. After they got close, Kumar started visitng the girl at her residence in the afternoon, when her parents were out on work. Her aunt had always objected to Kumar’s visits,” said a senior officer.

“On Tuesday afternoon, Alpana had gone out to visit a doctor. On returning home, she found her niece and Kumar in a compromising position. After she objected vehemently, Kumar slapped her in such a way that she fell unconscious. The duo then strangulated her to death. They then stuffed the body in a gunny bag and disposed it off,” added the officer.

After Biplab and Malabika returned, they looked for Alpana. The girl, who was watching TV after removing the body told them that she went missing. Biplab then went to lodge a missing complaint at the Jadavpur police station. After he returned, the nervous teenager confessed her crime to her parents.

“We have arrested Biplab and Malabika for removing the evidences and misleading the police. Even though they do not have any direct involvement in the murder, they suppressed the truth. Kumar is still absconding but we have started conducting raids,” said, Sunil Choudhury, ASP, South 24-Paraganas.

The girl has been sent to Liluah home while her parents were sent to 14-days judicial custody, said Choudhury.
