Jain institutions lauded for spreading education

Ambala Speaking at the annual function of a school, Union Minister of State for Urban Development and Poverty Alleviation Kumari Selja said the Jain educational institutions have helped in raising the standard of education in the country, particularly that of women education.

She said the network of these institutions had made Ambala an important hub of education even before independence. The Minster granted Rs 3 lakh for the construction of junior wing of the school. Secretary of the school management, Lov Kumar, read out the annual report and the school children presented a cultural programme on the occasion.

CJM visits Central Jail
AMBALA
: The Chief Judicial Magistrate and Secretary District Legal Aid Authority Praveen Gupta visited the Ambala Central Jail on Friday. During the visit, two undertrials reportedly confessed to have committed crime, but promised to reform their ways and not take to crime any more.
