The two companies initially aim to establish a framework for joint cooperation and collaboration to explore potential projects in the field of de-salination plants, water resource management, water supply systems, municipal water management, wastewater treatment, and reclamation projects in the country.
Anil Jain, Managing Director, Jain Irrigation said, “Provision of clean and healthy water for households, adequate and timely supply of water to agriculture and industry is the need of the hour. Currently, there is under-investment in this sector and there is enormous opportunity to fulfil the underlying potential.”
The MoU seeks to leverage the various opportunities the Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) provides in the filed of water recycling. Under the JNNURM, it is recommended that all beneficiaries recycle at least 25 percent of their wastewater for non-domestic uses.
The scheme also has a provision for granting funds up to 100 per cent of the project cost.
Mekroot is one of the most advanced water companies in the world and supplies 80 percent of Israel’s drinking water.
On the other hand, Jalgaon-based Jain Systems has manufacturing plants and offices all over the country, including a plant in Vadodara.
