Jalandhar potatoes exported to Sri Lanka, Dubai

Jalandhar The Jalandhar Potato Growers’ Association (JPGA), in collaboration with Markfed, has started export of potatoes to Dubai and Sri Lanka. Three consignments, including two to Dubai, were flagged off today from Jalandhar.

The association members said 101 containers, containing 13 tonnes potato each, will be exported to both countries.

Dr G.S. Kang, head of department, Centre Potato Research Institution (CPRI), Jalandhar, flagged off the consignments. In a joint press conference, JPGA, CPRI and Markfed officials said this export may be increased. JPGA president Raghubir Singh said the export was a timely action by the Punjab government which to avert a glut.
