The FIR was lodged at the Kaiserbagh police station after the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) submitted its findings against the officials who were in charge of certain land documents that went missing.
The LDA has charged the accused for connivance, fraud and tampering of documents. The scam took place between 1992 and 1996 when cases of fraud and double allotment of properties came to light in the Jankipuram Residential Scheme of the LDA.
Officials of the LDA said after reviewing all the documents related with the allotment of the plots under the Jankipuram scheme, it was found that many people were allotted property without having any registration on their name, while some were issued fake allotment letter.
“There were also cases in which registries were done, but no amount was deposited in the LDA account,” an official said. This fraud allotment took place mainly in sectors-G, H, I, C and F that cost the LDA around Rs 2 crores.
“The documents of 413 properties are still missing,” he added.
Beside the LDA and the CBI, the State Vigilance Department had also carried out a separate investigation in the case.
All the accused officials, including four ex-joint secretaries — Sripal Verma, ML Paswan, RN Singh and SB Bhart — have been under suspension since 2005. Other included Under Secretary Ram Prakash Singh, Assistant Property Office — Ram Pyare Singh, Babu Ram, late Sadhu Ram, head clerks SK Gupta, US Dwivedi and Irshad Husain, junior clerks — Raj Narayan Dwivedi, Suresh Verma and Gopal Singh.
