Lucknow A teenage Japanese girl was found unconscious in a coach of the Marudhar Express while travelling from Varanasi and Agra Fort on Friday. Her luggage was also found to be missing.

She was discovered by the guide of the guesthouse — where she had made her reservation — once the train reached Agra.

The victim — Yuka Ashida (as per her passport) — had been drugged and robbed, said a police officer.

According to Gajendra Pal Singh, Agra Fort GRP Station Officer, the guide, Ramesh Chandra, took her to the Priya guesthouse in Tajganj. Finding her in a semi-conscious state, the staff at the guesthouse informed the police at 1.45 pm. After receiving the information, the Agra Fort Government Railway Police (GRP) took the girl to the SN Hospital.

“The girl was detected unconscious by the GRP policemen on escort duty but they were helpless and could not provide her medical help in the moving train,” said Gajendra Pal Singh, Agra Fort GRP Station Officer.

Circle Officer of Agra GRP, DK Pandey, however, contradicted the details provided by the station officer. “I am not aware if the girl was found unconscious near Lucknow or Kanpur station. The girl herself can only reveal the details of the incident.”

While GRP Allahabad Deputy Inspector General Abhay Prasad said he was unaware of the incident, Agra GRP Superintendent of Police Upendra Kumar Agrawal and the station officer had not visited the victim until evening. Lucknow GRP Station House Officer VN Dubey, too, also did not have any information about the incident.

Gajendra Pal Singh said the sequence of the incident will be known only after the girl and the guide are interrogated.
