Ludhiana A brilliant knock of 65 runs by skipper Jaswant Rai and an all-round performance from Arun Tuli (64 runs and 2 for 33) enabled AG Punjab to get the better off AG UP by a huge margin of 66 runs in the finals and clinch the North Zone Indian Audit and Accounts Department Cricket Tournament being played at Sector 16 Cricket Stadium on Friday.

Electing to bat first, AG Punjab batted superbly and posted 247 runs on the board for the loss of eight wickets in their allotted 40 overs. Both, Jaswant Rai and Arun Tulli batted superbly and scored 65 and 64 runs, respectively. Randhir Nain also chipped in with a useful knock of 44 runs. Among the UP bowlers, Sanjay Bhatia claimed 3 for 45 along with BN Aggarwal who scalped 2 for 30.

In reply, the UP side got off to a good start as their openers Vinod and Salman batted responsibly and scored 43 and 25 runs, respectively. However, the middle order crumbled under pressure and failed to maintain the momentum as they were bundled out for 181 runs in 40 overs. S Khan was the only batsman to show some resistance from the UP side and he remained unbeaten on 42. Amit Kakria was the pick of the bowlers from Punjab who bowled magnificently and claimed 4 for 27 in his allotted quota. Navdeep Singh and Arun Tuli were the other bowlers who scalped two victims each by giving away 21 and 33 runs, respectively.

Brief scores:
AG Punjab: 247 for 8 in 40 overs (Jaswant 65, Arun Tuli 64, Randhir Nain 44, Sanjay Bhatia 3 for 45, BN Aggarwal 2 for 30); AG UP: 181 all out in 40 overs ( Vinod 43, S Khan 42 no, Salman 25, Amit Kakria 4 for 27, Navdeep Singh 2 for 21, Arun Tuli 2 for 33)
