Ahmedabad Kites fight a ‘proxy war’ against Pakistan

Kite flying in the city has gone jingoistic this Uttarayan. Children from the Khakhra-Hatkeshwar area have chosen the theme ‘War with Pakistan is the only way to tackle terrorism sponsored from across the border,’ for this festival.

In the countdown to the kite festival, the locality saw a one-hour proxy 'kite war' with the combatants dividing themselves into India and Pakistan groups. The idea is to spread the message through kites, says Nimesh Shah, one of the kids among the 'warring' groups.

Kites containing messages like ‘Elaan e jung’ and 'Hindustan se jo takrayega, woh mitti mein mil jayega' will be doing the rounds on the Uttarayan skies on Wednesday.

First-aid points
City-based Medisurge Hospital has set up first-aid booths at 10 places in the city. These will be functional on January 14 and January 15 from 10am to 6pm.

The locations are as follows:
* Ambawadi Char Rasta
* Commerce Six Roads
* Naranpura Char Rasta
* Usmanpura Char Rasta
* Chandranagar, Paldi
* Paldi Char Rasta
* Sardar Patel Colony
* Panjrapole Char Rasta
* Mansi Complex, Vastrapur
* Judges Bungalow Char Rasta
